CAMERA CLUB BOARD
February 22, 2010
Present: Gene Gerwe, Phil Grote, Frank Stotts, Don Trask, Peggy Grote, Brad Hinckley, Taf Tafarrodi, Teres Ryan
Absent: Sandy Rice, Roy Chadwick, Bev Wharton, Mary Miller, Judy Stein, Barbara Gerwe
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 9:30 A.M.
Minutes: The minutes were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Frank reported a balance of $2355.16 after expenses totaling $75. The Club has one new member bringing the total to 77. Motion “to approve the Treasurer’s Report” was approved unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS:
Programs: The Program Night in March will be a “Show and Tell”. Members may present images and discuss them.
In April Scott Hinrichs will present a program on night photography and light painting.
This will take place before the May Challenge of “Night Photography”.
Don Trask volunteered to present a slideshow of his trip to the Southwest in May.
The new officers will be installed at the June banquet. Taf has arranged for Lisa Amato to present a 30 to 45 minutes program. She was recently featured in The Evergreen Times.
Field Trip: Phil Grote will lead a trip to photograph wildflowers. This will take place in late March or the second week in April. Weather conditions will be considered in determining the date in order to catch the wildflowers at their peak. Two possibilities being considered are Edgewood Park and Harvey Bear Ranch.
Judges: The following judges have been scheduled:
March – Alison Brooks
April – Kaye MacKenzie
May - Lois Shouse
Print Chair: Brad Hinckley noted that all is going well with the Club’s competitions and displays. PSA also has print competitions. Gene will send a copy of the new PSA rules to the Board members.
Digital Chair: Phil Grote will be out of town for the April competition. Taf will run the projector. Testing with several different laptops has been done on the use of the new digital monitor in the Conference Room. The resolution and the contrast on the monitor are superior to the projector. Year-end competition would be hindered by unequal projection of images if the earlier projected images were judged with the ones displayed on the monitor. Therefore, implementing the use of the monitor will take place over the summer. Submission of entries will change. A new laptop will need to be purchased to handle the requirements of the higher reproduction quality of the images.
Web Master: Don Trask stated there was nothing to report.
Membership: Roy Chadwick was absent, no report.
Publicity: Peggy Grote attended the meeting on submitting articles for the The Villager. The equipment from the Montgomery display has been removed. It will be available at the next meeting to anyone who would like it. Peggy cancels the room for the 4th Tuesday if no program is scheduled.
Slide/Display: Sandy Rice was absent, no report.
PSA: Taf Tafarrodi receives the hard copy of their magazine. Don puts information on the website. There are several competitions. Anyone who is interested needs to obtain a code number from Taf. The Yueba Buena Chapter was not listed in the magazine. Taf has called that to their attention.
Education: Don requested that this item be eliminated.
NEW BUSINESS:
Nominating Committee: A nominating committee for next year’s officers needs to be established. There were no volunteers.
Note: Camera Corner has gone out-of-business.
